LIFE FIX 3 – STEP 1 – ADMIT THE TRUTH, 6-29-25, Lead Pastor - Jeff Aenk, New Hope Christian Church
Key Verse – John 14:6 - Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except through me.
STEP 1 – WE ADMITTED WE WERE POWERLESS OVER OUR ADDICTIONS & HABITUAL SELF-DEFEATING BEHAVIORS BY OURSELVES, & THAT OUR LIVES HAD BECOME UNMANAGEABLE.
Matthew 5:1-3 - 1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them. He said: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (*They realize they are Broken & Cannot do this Life Alone.)
1. The #1 Universal Addiction (Me Playing God & Trying to Control the People & Circumstances Around me) will Not End Well!
Isaiah 14:12-15 - 12 How you (satan) have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” 15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.
2. I am a Mess & should Not be behind the Steering Wheel of My Life! My Life is Unmanageable.
Romans 7:15-25a - 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25a Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
3. Someone has to Die if I’m gonna get well, & that Someone is My Ego, My Flesh, My Pride, My Sinful Nature! My Ego is NOT My Amigo!
Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
4. There is a God - and I am NOT Him!!!
James 4:6b - “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
5. I have Superpower!!! Powerlessness is My Super Power! It's where God comes in & Healing Begins. ***All you Need is to Admit your Need.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 - 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Here’s What I Want us To Do This Week
1. Admit We are Powerless over our Addictions & Habitual Self-Defeating Behaviors by Ourselves, & that Our Lives had become Unmanageable. In many ways, this is the Most Critical Step. Many people Don't really move forward much or make much progress, because they haven't really come to the End of Themselves, & Really Surrendered & Given over Control to God. They are still trying to Control everything themselves.

2.
