HOUSE OF DAVID 2 – DEAL WITH SIN QUICKLY, 7-26-26, Lead Pastor Jeff Aenk,
New Hope Christian Church
Key Verse - 1 Samuel 16:7b – The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
THE DANGER & THE WAY OUT OF SIN – DISOBEYING GOD:
1. SMALL COMPROMISE EVENTUALLY LEADS TO SIN & BRINGS DESTRUCTION & DEATH.
*The Amalekites were Wicked & had Attacked God’s People. (Ex. 17:8-16, Deut. 25:17-19, 1 Sam. 15)
1 Samuel 15:7-12 - 7 Then Saul attacked the Amalekites all the way from Havilah to Shur, near the eastern border of Egypt. 8 He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword. 9 But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed. 10 Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel: 11 “I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night. 12 Early in the morning Samuel got up and went to meet Saul, but he was told, “Saul has gone to Carmel. There he has set up a monument in his own honor and has turned and gone on down to Gilgal.”
*Saul has just won a massive military victory against the Amalekites.
The crowd is cheering — but God isn’t clapping, & He is NOT happy.
VIDEO Clip #1: Saul being told the kingdom is removed (Season 1, Episode 1) – 1 Samuel 15
James 1:14-15 - 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
2. JESUS LOVES TO SAVE, HEAL, HELP, & RESTORE, THOSE WHO CRY OUT TO HIM IN REPENTANCE.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Acts 3:19 - Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
2 Corinthians 7:10 - Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
