FAMILY VALUES 4 – PRAYER – PRAYING BOLDLY, 1-26-25

Introduction: Key Verse - Matthew 12:50 – “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” – Jesus

 

I.                        What is Prayer?

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 

II.                      When Should I Pray?

James 5:13-16  Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faithwill make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

 

1Thessalonians 5:17 pray continually, 

 

III.                    What Is Praying Boldly?

Hebrews 4:16"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

1 Kings 18:36-39  At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

39     When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”

 

IV.                     How Can I Pray Boldly ?

Ephesians 3:12 NIV  In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Ephesians 3:12 ASV  in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.

Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked,

    but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

 

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

1.               Establish a habit of daily prayer.

2.               Join us in prayer on Wednesday nights.

 

3.                Continue to work at Memorizing Our New Hope Family Core Values Below:
