JESUS EXPECTS HIS FOLLOWERS TO SERVE (VOLUNTEER) & GIVE OUR LIVES TO HELP OTHERS, LIKE HE DID.
FAMILY VALUES 11 – SERVE 1, 3-16-25, Lead Pastor - Jeff Aenk, New Hope Christian Church
Key Verse - Matthew 12:50 – “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” – Jesus
Mark 10:37 & 41-45 - 37 They (James & John) replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.” …………… 41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. (Bondservant – See Deuteronomy 15:16-17) 45 For even the Son of Man (Jesus) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
John 13:12-17 - 12 When he (Jesus) had finished washing their (the disciples) feet, he put on his (outer) clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
Galatians 5:13 - You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Here’s What I Want us To Do This Week
1. Ask God to show you where & how to Serve others through New Hope, & then Commit to do so. *Sign up to Volunteer, by Scanning the QR Code Below to Download our Church App, Open the App & Click the Connect Button at the Bottom, then Click on the Volunteer Button, then Fill Out the Short Form, then Click Submit @ Bottom. *You can also Sign up to Volunteer by Filling Out the Green Communication Card behind the Chairs, & Check or Circle the areas on the Back that you are Interested in Serving in, then Drop it in one of the gray Tithe & Offering Boxes by the Doors.
2. Pick up a Serving Towel & Figuratively Wash Someone’s Feet to show them you Love & Serve them. A Figurative Foot Washing can start with the Question to someone, “How Can I Help You,” or “What Could I Do For You?” A few possible examples might be: Cleaning the House, Giving a Backrub, Fixing Something Broken, Help on a Project, Make Time to Talk, Go on a Date, Go on a Walk, Give a Passionate Kiss or……, Etc. The key is Love & Serve another person in a way they would notice & appreciate. You could even mow your neighbor’s lawn. Pray & follow God’s lead.
